Reflection of AED 200

1. What were you expectations for this course and where they met?
I didnt have very high expectations for this course since I only took this course because I didnt any art credit to graduate, but this was a very interesting course and I really enjoyed in when I first started it look as if there was going to be a lot of work but it really evened out throughout the semester and the flexibility was a huge help for me since I am a full time student and I also work full time so I can get very busy and overwhelmed easily with everything I have going in.
2. Now that you've been through this course, What is art? How would you define it now compared to your initial posting?
I believe when I first started this course I put that Art was something that you look at and interrupt or something along those lines, which I still feel the same way but I feel that all the art I looked at this semester definitely made me enjoy certain types of art and have more of an open mind to different pieces of art.
3. Who was your favorite artist in your original posting and who is your favorite visual artist now? If there is a difference, why do you think so? If you have the same favorite artist, why do you think so?
I didnt put a favorite artists because like I had stated when I first started the course I am not into art that much, I feel as if I dont have a favorite. I am very much into oil paintings that is my favorite type of art to look at along with sketches since they are so free and can be more difficult to interrupt
4. Now that you've completed this course, how do you feel about taking an online course? Is your answer the same as it was in your first posting? How is it the same or different?
My answer is the same, I love online classes I took them a lot when I was in community college...I also wishes to take more since they are so convenient for me since I do not have the luxury of not working while in school, I wish but I can't do that.So online classes are always so much easier and I think it gives an individual more self discipline on learning things on there own without a teacher always by there side.

Project 5

1. Use the vocabulary you have learned in class to describe this artwork or performance in detail.
This piece of art, there are lots of shapes which is a huge element when creating a piece of art. It has a neutral color pattern, black and white which makes you focus more on the shapes and figures in the piece of art.
2. What processes were used to create this work? What social influences might the artist be responding to and why?
From the research I did on this oil painting, this was a piece showing the large mural shows the suffering of people, animals, and buildings wrenched by violence and chaos, this was in response to the bombing in Guernica, Spain and also helped during the Spanish civil war.
3. What is the relationship of this work to the time and society in which it was created? Describe the symbols used to express this relationship.
I think that in this piece of art, the fact that there are people and animals along with buildings just scattered all over the the place really gives you a feel of chaos in this time period.
4. Identify elements in the work that evoke a persuasive or emotional response. Be specific about what those responses are and why.
The elements of shape are really showing the more emotion with the different shapes of the figures in this piece, the shapes of the people and the animals aren't shaped like a normal animal or person they have a different more distressed look to them.
5. Evaluate what you perceive to be the strengths and weaknesses of the work.  Apply discipline specific vocabulary and concepts when describing your point of view.
This is a very different piece of work since everything is so scattered throughout the piece of work. I could see a weakness of this piece being that it is too busy for some people or they may think something else of this piece of art. Strengths of this piece of art is that it has a strong message for the time period and I think that is what makes the piece so unique and amazing.

project 4 reflection

For this project, I had started with a different theme in mind I really enjoyed the videos I had watched for my blog review about lowbrow they seemed very interested to me but they were a bit harder to find for me so I picked a specific artist that I found interesting and used his works of art that were all a bit similar or used the same materials to create them. Once I was able to decide on the pieces I wanted to use it was easier to create the slideshow. I really enjoy watercolors I think they have a bit more meaning and are so much more interesting to look at for me.

13&14 Video Review

1. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.

The Lowdown on Lowbrow: West Coast Pop Art:  Art historians call it Pop Surrealism; practitioners call it Lowbrow. With dozens of artist and gallery curator interviews, along with hundreds of examples, this program chronicles Lowbrow’s evolution, its iconoclasm and often antagonistic relation to Abstract Expressionism, as well as the rise of female artists to its forefront.

An Acquiring Mind:Philippe de Montebello and The Metropolitan: In this video they discussed Philippe de Montebello who was the director of The Metropolitan for 31 years and it also talked about the museum.

Tate Modern: They discuss the tate modern by Wolff Olins in 2000, and how successful it has come in the last 10 years on its anniversary.

2. Do the videos relate to the creation of your Art Exhibition project? If yes, explain how. If no, explain why not.
The lowdown on lowbrow is one video that I liked a lot and used a lot toward my Art Exhibition project. It was something that interested me because it was It was something I could relate to and something that really caught my eye
3. What is your opinion of the films? Do they add depth to understanding of the art concepts you practiced while creating your curation project?
I think that the videos definitely helped me to create my project, it gave me some good ideas and I got to learn about different art at the same time.
